Akeredolu suspends Rufus Giwa Polytechnic governing chairman

Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeledru has suspended Owo Banji Alabi, chairman of the governing council of the state’s Rufus Giwa Poly.

Akeredolu has announced the suspension following the report of the seven-member Polytechnic Visiting Committee.

Alabi’s suspension was reported by the Visiting Committee, which said he declined invitations on several occasions.

The Governor said, “The chairman remains suspended until there is a hearing from him.” , said the panel held meetings in the course of its mandate.At various locations, it worked with relevant stakeholders in the polytechnic and host communities to come up with recommendations.

“The three-month operation began with the launch of the Visiting Committee on 21 September 2022. All items listed in the seven-point agenda were critically reviewed and discussed with relevant stakeholders. and collected notes from staff, students, and the community, conducted a comprehensive review of Polytechnic staff and accounts, and revised the Polytechnic Law.

“Then, the contents of the memorandums submitted, other A critical analysis of the material, as well as the oral evidence she obtained, led to her recommendations.

“The Panel also asked senior Polytechnic officials, union committees, leaders of the host community and, of course, Polytechnic facilities (including buildings, vehicles, businesses, etc.) to be carefully executed.

Received the report Governor Akeledolu appreciated all panel members for their work and promised to review the report.

Finally, the Ondo governor emphasized that polytechnics have all the requirements to become a university.
