GM’s ISV Military Vehicle Cleared for Full Military Production

Steve duMont, president of GM Defense, said, “I am proud of the GM Defense team for achieving this important milestone in the Infantry Squad Vehicle program, and I am grateful for the close relationship we have with our long-standing U.S. Army program customer, ” said Steve duMont, president of GM Defense. “Having the full range of ISV recommendations strengthens our credibility and enhances the success of our manufacturing operations.”

The military wanted it to be as light as possible for easy transfer, and GM provided. The car has few body panels and is little more than a frame, roll cage, steering wheel, and seats. That means it’s light enough to be sling-loaded from a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter and small enough to fit inside a CH-47 Chinook helicopter.

Also, the car contains 90 percent of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) parts, meaning wherever it is used, parts will be easily available if there is a need to repair or change something; even in combat mode.
