Before you consider creating templates in PowerPoint, you have to make out very interesting designs such as the one I am about to show you in a picture coming up soon.

How to Create Powerful PowerPoint Templates in 5 Minutes
It is very clear up there that I used candy crush saga screenshot to make out that template in my PowerPoint, which is currently serving as a background on my device.
If you make out your own design and you wish to convert it from presentation to a powerful PowerPoint template so that anyone can use it at any time, the next step will amaze you.
After creation of your own design, place it very well on the slide by simply selecting the design menu at the top right hand.

Then choose format background after which you will have to select the picture or texture fill option. Directly below it, there are other options. Pick the Picture source and select a picture from your device.
When you are done with the placement, go to your file menu which is the same as the office button. Select the ‘Save As’ option.
Once the dialog box appears, you can change the file type to template instead of saving as a presentation or PDF.
You can also do the same by selecting the export option, then click on change file type. List of other file types will be visible for you to make your choice.
Click the Template (*.potx) and then save as a template. Check out the arrow on the screenshot below for a good explanation.
